Student Life
Community Standards
Automotive is a special and important place. There are many wonderful opportunities available to students who are able to be positive members of our school community.
Our community standards are listed below. Please read them and know these are the behaviors of students who are successful at Automotive High School and in life. Simply, this is what we expect of you!
Our community is strongest when we are all present and prepared!
- Students come to school everyday on-time and are prepared to learn.
- We are prepared to learn when we bring our notebooks, pens and other necessary supplies.
- We are prepared when we look and act like successful students. We come to school dressed according to dress code.
- We do not wear gang colors or beads or clothing or that has offensive language or is over-revealing.
Our community is built on support and mutual respect!
- Students respect themselves, each other, school staff, and the community at large.
- We use positive and supportive language with each other.
- We work to resolve our conflicts in a non-violent and healthy manner.
- We do not curse or engage in behavior and language that hurts or disrespects others.
- We do not bully or physically hurt one another.
Our community has pride in our physical space!
- Students show pride in our community by working to keep our school building safe and clean.
- We do not graffiti our building or leave garbage around hallways, classrooms and the cafeteria.
Our community holds everyone to equally high standards!
- Students engage in and encourage their peers to engage in behavior that promotes a positive learning environment.
- We do not bring items to school that interfere in our learning process (electronic devices, cell phones or any item that can cause harm).
- We aim for the heights—not for the minimum. Grades that are “just passing” are not good enough to get the best jobs, the best schools—or the best self-respect.
Our community is successful when we are all successful!
We are able to fully participate in activities when we follow these community standards and make good and smart decisions.
