Most students who fail classes fail because they are not there to take part in the instruction and discussion. Every student needs to be in class, and working. There is no other way.
Attendance is taken school-wide in the morning, and class attendance is taken every period. Students who are absent, especially repeatedly, will have calls made to their homes, and parents will be informed so that the situation can be corrected. New York State law requires you to attend school, and failure to attend can lead to legal problems for both student and parents.
Students with excellent attendance will be eligible for prizes and rewards on a weekly and monthly basis.
The Office of Attendance is located in room 303A. We provide parent/guardians with attendance records and answers to any attendance questions they may have concerning their child. We notify the parents/guardian of their child’s absences by phone calls and by mailings. We may also schedule a home visit if the student is excessively absent. If your child has been absent from school he/she must bring a note to the attendance office. Our goal is to work with our students and parent/guardian to improve and maintain positive attendance patterns.
