Dear Members of the Community,
My name is Rebecca Jahnigen and I am the Community Associate for Automotive High School. Automotive High School is taking positive steps forward to creating a partnership between itself and the community. In an effort to promote public awareness surrounding its programs and amenities to the surrounding neighborhoods, Automotive has created a new position called the “Community Associate.” I have been recently brought on board to work with the Greenpoint and Williamsburg communities and will be providing a sounding board for the communities’ concerns and comments regarding Automotive High School. My background involves political and social grassroots campaigns, civil rights activism and non-profit organizing and I am proud to say that I have found a place here at Automotive where I feel I can help make a difference.
As the Community Associate, it is my role to be active in program planning and implementation for both students and residents in the community. I feel that it is important not only get the students involved in the community but also create ways for the community to get involved with the students.
